Act 1: A Coronation to Die For

Miranna and Alice looked in awe at that statement. "... Wow, you must be the most sexually frustrated man ever.", Alice said, which prompted Miranna to slap her arm. "Ow!", was all Alice said in response, rubbing her arm.

Sadly, you failed to grasp the draconian, but you managed to grab his attention. The draconian turned to the thri-kreen, snarling. "You want some of this too!? I'll squash you like an ant!", he shouted. He seemed pretty angry.

Zero hops to his feet. Unaware yet of the insectile creature that would be his savior, he lifts up the remaining ball on his hand and tosses it! Not at the dragonborn, but at the remaining pile of bottles.

"Not technically correct. Most of us are dead. Our mechanical augmentations keep us alive and aware."

Zero: You knock down a second pile of bottles with a loud SMACK! ... odd how you're still focusing on th game when danger is right in front of you, but hey, you must want that prize.

KhurQuinn: Everyone nodded. "A tragic tale, but rather interesting to know just how advanced the Zem are.", Wolfman Kaiser Roll Stroganoff III said. "Why, it sounds like his technology rivals even that of the celestians!" Naria grimaced, crossing her arms over her chest. "Yes, even I'll admit that..."

Chu'nak stands 6'2" in front of the draconian. "What did the small one do to deserve punishment?" he chatters in rough common.

Chu'nak: The draconian, who was a mere 5'8, noticed how much taller the thri-kreen was. "He, uh... he... ah, forget it! Not worth my time anyway... I got stuff to do..." he said, snarling as he turned to leave, making a face at the halfling before turning and leaving.

"I would not know about that. I believe I have more in common with Gastro then Lady Naria. Although," He allows himself. "I am considered to be a master of necromancy on Nostros."

KhurQuinn: "Gasto.", Gasto said to correct him, though he was rather non-chalant about it. Alice's eyes widened in admiration. "Necromancy!? That is so cool!" she said, getting all giggly. Miranna rolled her eyes and smiled.

Zero grins in smug satisfaction as the bottles go down. "Ha!"

Turning to look at his adversary, he is surprised to see him walking away.

He is then surprised even more to see the massive insect towering over him.

"Oh dear me. I'm not in any trouble, am I?" he asks sweetly, mistaking the creature for a local guard.

"Maybe you should tell me, small one." the bug stares down at him.

Zero: Once the draconian left, the man behind the counter looked around, realizing there was far less blood than he expected. "Heh, well, that wasn't so bad... hey, kid, I'll give you another throw since you were interrupted. Go on, give it a shot."

Zero smiles impishly as it looks like the game manager is helping him look innocent much better than any bluff he himself could pull off. "Heheh! I'll be with you in a second!" the rogue tells Chu'nak as he picks up the last ball and takes aim!

It turns out the bottles were rigged with explosives and everyone died.

... whoops, wait, wrong card. *ahem* WHAM! You knock the last stack of bottles down. The old man adjusts his glasses. "Well, I'll be! Heh, guess I owe ya somethin' special, huh kid?", the old man said with a laugh. He reached behind the counter, pulling out a giant, stuffed chicken that was as big as him. "Here you are,s onny. Now run along and find your parents!"

Zero got 1 giant stuffed chicken!

"I do apologize. I believe my mask is malfunctioning." He makes a few adjustments on the side of his head. "That should do it. Now, Miss Alice, would you like me to summon something for you?"

KhurQuinn: Alice jumped up and down excitedly. "Oh, I've always wanted to see necromancy at work! Summon a skeleton, NO!, summon a zombie, NO!, summon a... a... a flesh golem!"

Zero stares at the beast, which is much larger than he is. "Wow. You're a prince among carnies, good sir!" the halfling laughs as he accepts the prize.

Turning to face the ginormous insect, Zero holds up the chicken. "I don't suppose my savior would accept a token of gratitude from this, his grateful benefactee?"

Chu'nak clicks his mandibles together and a sound like he is rolling his tongue escapes his mouth. "I have no need for things such as that. Now, small one, why was that draconian assaulting you?" he asks impatiently.

"Ah, you are asking for mere constructs. I shall do better then that. I will summon a protective spirit, an ancient Zem warrior from my families lineage."

KhurQuinn mutters a quick incantation as his hand moves quickly through the air. A holographic scroll appears and he taps out a few symbols on it's face. Within seconds a fierce apparition appears. Wearing a monstrous bone mask and carrying what looked to be a tusk as a shield, he looked menacing. More so when you saw the wicked scythe it wielded.

"This is Athas. I have learned much of my history from him, though he does not speak. You can see the markings on his mask are similar to mine. Those are the symbols of family, passed down for generations. His shield is made from the tusk of blutenk, a now extinct animal native to Nostros thousands of years ago. The weapon he carries is a Modtarro rhidarch, so named for the tribe that used it. The rhidarch would be much too heavy for any of us to use with one hand but my ancestors were stronger then even our mechanical augments can make us. Athas is a patriarchal ancestor, and so I am a direct descendant of the Modtarro tribe. He has protected me ever since I first started bumbling with necromancy."

The ancient warrior bowed before his audience before dissipating into nothingness.

"You may notice how quickly I incanted the spell. That is because it was developed to be useful in a battle. A spell that takes even a minute to cast is far too slow and useless in a fight. So I have trained myself to do it quickly and decisively. Any questions?"

Everyone was quite speechless at the spectacle before them. Some of them were wrought with fear, having never seen something so fearsome. Others were had a look of admiration plastered on their faces, especially Alice. "To summon those that are family even... necromancy can't be nearly as bad as it was believed to be centuries ago, could it?", she asked, rather fascinated by the whole thing. "Yes, I too am curious. This is quite... astounding.", Gasto chimed in, stroking his metal chin.
